CLUB SERVICE

Rotary is a service organization with the motto “Service above Self’. Most member activity is devoted to developing, fund-raising for, and delivering service projects for and/or with varied groups, as well as supporting club operations. Projects vary a bit each year, and are organized in five general areas – community, youth, vocational, international, and club.

All Rotary clubs are self-sustaining, and members volunteer their time, skills, and insight to support the administrative and business aspects of a not-for-profit organization. These include coordinating regular club meetings, as well as scheduled events and fund-raisers; communicating across the club and related committee memberships; overseeing monthly accounting and annual tax reporting; seeking out new members and project opportunities; assisting with event marketing and public image activity; vetting funding requests; and guiding club foundation investments.

Special projects – such as launching a new website or major project – are undertaken by interdisciplinary club-member teams and occasionally third party consultants. Resources and expertise also can be called upon from the other 58 clubs in our district from across southern Connecticut as well as from Rotary International itself.
